Re-connect Art 2025: WELL-BEING

The project addresses the imbalance between life and work, the need for rest and self-care, as well as care for immaterial values. Through artistic interventions, we will respond to the history and present of the Veleslavín Chateau and its surrounding gardens. With multimedia installations, live performances, and participatory programs we will attempt to rediscover art that helps us find understanding and satisfaction, raises awareness of issues and problems that are not sufficiently visible in the media, creates an alternative to the current trend of commodification of life, and offers the possibility of active participation in public life.

An important mission of the project is to highlight the need to restore respect for physical and mental health, self-care, and care for life in the community, which we currently perceive as an urgent problem as exemplified by the dilapidated cultural monument of Veleslavín Castle among others.

The theme of well-being is deeply connected to the essence of art itself. Art is a nourishing form of self-care, a cultivation of values, an occasion for socializing, a mechanism for social self-reflection, and an irreplaceable source of spiritual nourishment. Today, however, we encounter its underappreciation and undervaluation, which results in a shared experience of exhaustion in the art sector. The creation of art and its mediation is usually a very demanding endeavor, connected not only with the creative process itself, but also with a number of other activities—administrative, organizational, and operational. Artists often find themselves on the brink of their material, physical, and mental strength, and given the tradition of low valuation of cultural production and the lack of legislative support in our country, they face existential questions.

Therefore, the festival addresses this problem through artistic interventions and also includes elements that expose the precariousness of cultural workers, using the festival itself as an example.
